This book moved me into tears it was honestly so beautiful and heart wrenching and I felt happy, sad and anger too for the things the boys went through in this book!
We meet seventeen year old Dante Bridgeman who thought he was getting his A Level results so he can go off to university but his ex girlfriend was at the door with a baby called Emma that turns out to be his daughter Dante world turned upside down as he navigates how to be a teenage dad his brother Adam was also struggling due to his sexuality because he is Gay and the whole thing becomes difficult for the two boys and you walk through the battles and struggle seeing them trying to cope with Dante daughter Emma and life!
Blackman made me cherish her characters so much she opened such an insight of what boys go through especially black boys in society boys are not meant to cry because you have to man up but this book made me realise boys should be allowed to cry because emotions are vaild this book would be good if you have male siblings or friends to make discussions about being a black boy or just a boy in general I think it’s important for girls to understand male emotions too and I love to read about boys because being an only child with no siblings sometimes I wish I had a brother someone I can discuss this book I read with because he’ll probably be quite interested in it I believe this book should be in every school and boy’s bedroom to educate our sons about manhood and what being a boy in black society is like!
