the story talks about sixteen year old Bri aka Brianna who wants to be one of the greatest rappers of all time but her family is struggling after her dad died, her mom and older brother Trey has been finding it difficult in the house they're living but when Bri raps "On The Come Up" in a studio after the ring battle she later realizes the world saw her that way and the song started to become popular her two best friends were happy about the song but when Mailk heard it he wasn't so impressed because he knew this wasn't what his best friend was and things went on and off for him and Bri in the book but the person who still supported her was Sonny and Bri ended up falling in love foe Curtis a boy who really adores her. I enjoyed this book a lot because Thomas knows how to make you feel being a black girl wanted to achieve the dreams you want to be but when the world labels you as things that you're not can be painful and annoying also I loved how reality s
