My Sister Lives On The Mantelpiece Book Review

This book follow the story of a ten year old boy called Jamie Matthews Aka James and he's trying to understand the life after his older sister Rose death, basically Rose died in a bombing and it left Jamie's family really hurt and grief, they're trying to cope with also Jamie's parents relationship wasn't a good one and his mom left Jamie's Dad, so he and his other older sister Jas aka Jasmine lived with their dad, Jamie, when he meets a girl called Sunya at school that changes his world and mind against Muslims for him, since Jamie's dad blames them for killing his daughter in the bombing that was five years ago, so they kept Rose on there Mantelpiece to remember her and not forget how everything unfolded out for the family.

This book was okay but it just didn't really connect with me as I thought it would I did put this book on dnf before because I think the topics were a bit deep and the writing style at times did annoy me words to "Cos' and Cross" I understand the author wanted to make Jamie sound British and realistic, but I feel these words don't always work in fiction because sometimes it does make the story a little bit annoying for the reader, plus I just felt Jamie's age and concept of this book didn't really hit it for me I also didn't like how it felt so Muslim shaming and blaming and I felt Jamie's parents also made Rose felt like their only daughter I understand it hurts loosing someone you love but I felt the author could have made a happy ending with the parents I did love Jamie and Sunya though.

Thank you all for listening.
