The Story talks about sixteen year old friends Red, Rose, Leo & Naomi they are misfit and they are a band which is called "Mirror Mirror" the friends got issues of the own Red got a mother who is always drinking and a dad who never around, Leo is going through a dark path with his brother Aaron, Rose drinks and flirts with boys to numb the pain of her past and we now have Naomi who wanted to run away for her freedom and is found half dead on the themes river.
the police thought this was suicide attempt she was trying to make so the three friends go on Mission to seek what happened to Naomi also going through their own personal issues and gender identity.
the blurb doesn't really tell much of the story at all, the plot introduces Red who probably if you don't realize, you'll think she is a boy and kind of known a bit of a lesbian and cisgender for how she calls her friends "Mate"
anyway Red has a mother who drinks and their relationship has been on and off through the book and then Gracie is Red little sister Red got blamed by her mother for not being around for Gracie, the problem is Red is known to like girls so this book is a bit targeted toward LGBT community so you learn more about her and her feelings toward girls.
Leo is also struggling with his brother Aaron who takes drugs and is always giving their Mum a hard time Aaron also doesn't like Red and always calls her the "it" because he cannot stand her for some reason.
Rose is also facing issues with her past from a boy she loved when she was fourteen and the break up really destroyed her and changed her life from the time, so she likes to hang with boys and drink to numb the pain from the experience she began to hang out with Mr Moon, who was later reveal as Mr Smith their music teacher apparently he flirts with girls and abuse them so it turned out Rose was with him for her actions and behaviors
I really adored this book because it shows how Cara loved young people even though it was Co-Written you could feel the rawness of these characters and how this book represented London and the areas and everything and this book was well researched and made big impact on young people today and capture a lot of things youngsters go through everyday now.
that we have social media everything is now judged and sexual and arguments with friends you can have at school, over a one boy you have a crush on, all these feels are captured in this book also family life not getting along with your parents there so much in this novel that makes you go "WOW!".
Thank you for listening to this review.
